Micronutrients, often referred to as vitamins and minerals, are vital to healthy development, disease prevention, and wellbeing. Vitamins are necessary for energy production, blood clotting and boosting our ability to fight infection from viruses and bacteria. Minerals play an essential role in growth, bone health, fluid balance and muscle contraction. This test can help you to identify micronutrient deficiencies so you can take steps to improve your health and immune system.
*Please note that the vitamin B12 test is not suitable for those under the age of 22. If you are under the age of 22 you will not receive a vitamin B12 test result.
Most people with a mild mineral or vitamin imbalance will not experience any symptoms, so regular testing is key to understanding your levels.
Symptoms of a nutritional deficiency may include, but are not limited to:
- Weakness, fatigue, or decreased energy levels
- Muscle aches and pain
- Weakened immune system and increased susceptibility to infections
- Problems with your vision
- Joint pain and discomfort
- Problems with your heart
- Loss of appetite, nausea, or abdominal pain
- Hair loss
- Poor bone health
The Micronutrient Test can give you specific insights into your diet, enabling you to quickly and easily identify and resolve any deficiencies. Anyone can develop a micronutrient deficiency. However, some may be at increased risk, including those following a vegan or vegetarian diet or as a result of conditions such as coeliac and Crohn’s infection that impair the absorption of food. Your nutritional requirements may change as you age or as a result of certain medications.
You should take the Micronutrient test if:
- You want to identify areas for improvement of your overall health
- You follow a vegetarian or vegan diet
- You have recently excluded a particular food group from your diet
- You are over 50 years of age
- You are experiencing symptoms of a deficiency*
- You have a condition that may impact the absorption of nutrients such as coeliac or Crohn’s infection
- You have problems absorbing nutrients from your diet
*Talk to your doctor about any symptoms that you are experiencing.
The test must be taken before 10 a.m on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday and returned on the same day.
Please note that the vitamin B12 test is not suitable for those under the age of 22. If you are under the age of 22 you will not receive a vitamin B12 test result.
