Mycoplasma genitalium (MG) is a sexually transmitted bacterium found in the urinary and genital tracts. Mycoplasma can affect both men and women and it is transmitted through sexual contact. This does not need to be full sexual intercourse, it can be spread by any form of genital touching or rubbing.

Treatment of mycoplasma
Mycoplasma is treated with a course of antibiotics. If a person tests positive for mycoplasma, we can provide a prescription for the appropriate antibiotics. A person with mycoplasma must abstain from sexual intercourse until the infection has cleared. Any sexual contacts who may have been exposed to the infection should be advised to get tested.
