How do people feel about healthcare today? Our Let’s Talk About Health Equity Report explores evolving consumer attitudes towards the state of healthcare in the United States, as well as proposed solutions to generate health equity for all.
To assess consumer satisfaction and unmet healthcare needs, we looked at primary data trends from our research survey carried out this year. This research reveals key themes about the inaccessibility of healthcare today in addition to the ways in which we can address these challenges, including a more proactive, preventive approach, and at-home care distribution.
The reasons for inequity in healthcare today
Feelings of unease with the healthcare system are linked to health equity issues, including affordability (59% believe the healthcare system is not affordable), discrimination (52% believe discrimination is an issue), and ease of access (48% say that they cannot get care when they need it).
The importance of a proactive and preventive approach to health and wellbeing
The study also found that 64% of people have experienced at least one pain point when visiting an onsite lab and 58% of people rank preventive care as a top health priority and want to be proactive about their health.
The rise of at-home healthcare as a solution to today’s challenges
Our research found that 34% of people say they welcome taking blood tests at home either before or after they visit the doctor and 59% have taken an at-home test in the past 12 months vs. visiting a lab.
At-home care options such as diagnostic testing, virtual consultations, and medication delivery not only empower people to take a more proactive approach to healthcare but also alleviate the discomfort and inconvenience many experiences when they visit healthcare providers.
